Mayor Rachel Proctor understands that public safety is fundamental to our quality of life in DeSoto. Under her leadership, DeSoto's crime rate dropped by 8% over the last year. Mayor Proctor continues to be focused on lowering the crime rate, protecting neighborhoods, and keeping our city safe.
TAX RELIEF
Mayor Rachel Proctor knows that the increasing cost of living is a critical issue. She is making sure the City of DeSoto spend tax dollars wisely and efficiently to deliver reliable city services at the lowest cost. She protected seniors by increasing the Over-65 Tax Exemption. The city of DeSoto has not had a City Tax Rate Increase in 13 years. She will continue working to provide tax relief.
DESOTO GROWTH
Mayor Rachel Proctor is focused on our city's economy and our reputation as a great place to live and work. DeSoto competes with other metroplex suburbs for new businesses and growth opportunities, and putting our best foot forward is a high priority for Mayor Proctor. Mayor Proctor is also focused on infrastructure, such as our transportation connectivity, roads, bridges, and utilities, so that we are positioned to handle increased growth.

Mayor Rachel Proctor wants DeSoto to be a great city to live in, raise a family, and enjoy a high quality of life. She understands the underlying fundamentals that make a city attractive to new businesses. She is focused on creating ideal conditions to attract new businesses, shopping, retail and other amenities.

Rachel L. Proctor was elected as the 22nd Mayor of the City of DeSoto, TX in February 2021 in a Special Election. She was elected for her first full term in May 2022 securing her victory with nearly 90% of the vote.
